Therapy, Psychedelics & the Missing Bridge Between Them

01-24-2026

Some healing strengthens the self. Some healing dissolves it. Wisdom is knowing which one your nervous system can hold.

Hey Tribe 🩵

There’s a lot of conversation right now about psychedelics, ego death, and spiritual awakening — even among therapists and highly educated professionals.

What I see getting missed is something simple, but essential:

Most people don’t need to lose the self, they need to integrate it.

In my work, I teach the Five Selves:

  1. The inner child
  2. The ego
  3. The body-mind
  4. The higher self
  5. The ME Self, the conscious adult who is meant to lead.

Healing isn’t about eliminating any of them. It’s about restoring the right leadership inside.

When spiritual work skips the inner child and jumps straight to transcendence, the nervous system doesn’t feel free, it feels abandoned.

And when therapy focuses only on managing the self, the deeper programming never actually changes.

This is why so many people feel confused or destabilized, not because something went wrong, but because the framework didn’t match what their nervous system could actually hold.

Real transformation happens through integration.

  • The inner child feels safe.
  • The body settles.
  • The ego becomes a tool instead of an identity.
  • And the ME Self takes the lead.

From that place, insight doesn’t overwhelm, it lands.

I wrote a longer, blog piece this week exploring how THERAPY, SPIRITUAL WORK, and PSYCHEDELICS each serve different stages of healing, and why so many people STRUGGLE when those stages get confused

With strength and alignment,

It’s a relationship. Founders lead companies.Parents lead families. And every one of us is meant to lead ourselves. Yet most people were never taught how. So instead of leading the system, we watch it run. We watch the avatar—the conditioned self—move through the day on autopilot.Reacting....

Curiosity. Presence. We ended up talking about power. Not the loud kind. Not the kind that needs to be seen. But the quieter kind that...

New discipline. But here’s what I’ve learned — personally and professionally: Clarity isn’t something you think your way into. It’s something you regulate your way into. And there’s something else worth remembering here. The calendar we follow now is relatively new. For much of human history, the...
