"The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step."
- Lao Tzu
Dear (re)Parenting Tribe,
Have you ever faced a day where everything feels overwhelming? Perhaps it is simply getting out of bed, taking a shower, or preparing a meal. Maybe it is a mountain of laundry staring at you, a work project that seems insurmountable, or an important conversation you need to have. From the most basic acts of self-care to the deeper calling for personal change, we all encounter moments when life's tasks—whether mundane or profound—feel too big to tackle
Life presents us with challenges of all sizes. Some days, the victory is in brushing our teeth, eating breakfast, or tending to our children. Other days, we are tackling messy kitchens, having challenging conversations with loved ones, or embarking on journeys of personal transformation. What connects all these experiences is not their scale, but rather the universal need to find the strength to move forward, one small step at a time.
FINDING STRENGTH IN SIMPLICITY
THE POWER OF SMALL STEPS
- Every achievement, from making your bed to changing your life, begins with one action
- Basic self-care and profound changes require the same courage to begin
- Small steps in daily routines build momentum for larger transformations
- Each moment, even brushing your teeth, offers a choice to move forward
- Progress includes both getting dressed and growing spiritually

WISDOM FROM UNEXPECTED PLACES: FINDING INSPIRATION IN SIMPLICITY
Sometimes the most profound wisdom comes from unexpected sources. Throughout my journey, I have discovered that a simple children's song from "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" carries a powerful truth that applies to every challenge we face:
"Put one foot in front of the other, and soon you'll be walking across the floor. Put one foot in front of the other, and soon you'll be walking out the door..."
I have sung this to myself during countless moments: when the simple act of getting out of bed felt impossible, when taking a shower seemed like climbing a mountain, when preparing a basic meal felt overwhelming. This gentle reminder has guided me through both the simplest daily tasks and the most profound life changes.
For our younger tribe members (or the young at heart), Dory's mantra from "Finding Nemo" offers the same wisdom in a more contemporary package:
"Just keep swimming, just keep swimming, just keep swimming..."
Whether you are putting one foot forward or just keeping swimming, the message remains the same: progress is not about speed or grace—it is about continuing to move forward, even when the current feels strong or the path seems long.
THE PRACTICE OF PRESENCE
SHOWING UP FOR LIFE'S CHALLENGES
- Taking our first deep breath of the morning
- Having difficult conversations
- Finding the energy to brush our teeth
- Processing deep emotional work
- Preparing a simple meal
- Making life-changing decisions
- Getting dressed for the day
- Facing a pile of paperwork

SPIRITUAL PERSPECTIVE: DIVINE PARTNERSHIP IN ALL THINGS
In my own journey, I have discovered a profound truth that applies not just to our grand visions, but to every small task before us—even getting out of bed or taking a shower.
"My dreams come from God, and God has the power to accomplish them through me."
WHEN WE SURRENDER TO DIVINE GUIDANCE
WE REALIZE WE DO NOT HAVE TO:
- Force ourselves through the day
- Judge our basic needs
- Compare our daily routines to others
- Handle every moment alone
- Navigate challenges without support
Instead, we can trust in divine partnership while showing up as our best selves in each moment—whether we are folding laundry or transforming our lives.
|
When we truly embrace this partnership with the divine, we begin to understand that even our smallest actions carry sacred significance. There is no hierarchy in spiritual growth—making our bed with mindfulness can be just as transformative as meditation. Every moment becomes an opportunity to practice trust, to release our grip on control, and to allow divine guidance to work through us.
This understanding transforms our relationship with daily life. We begin to see that "showing up" does not mean being perfect—it means being present. And here is the crucial truth:
Showing up does not require us to feel motivated, comfortable, or energized. We do not have to wait for inspiration or for the fear to subside. We do not need to feel ready or rested.
Sometimes, the most powerful acts of self-love involve taking aligned action despite our fatigue, despite our resistance, despite our discomfort. It is about moving forward not because we feel like it, but because we know it aligns with our highest good and the path we have chosen.
REFLECTIVE QUESTIONS / JOURNAL PROMPTS
DEEPENING YOUR AWARENESS
Take some time to sit with these questions, allowing your answers to emerge from a place of honest self-reflection. Remember, there are no wrong answers - only opportunities for greater awareness and healing.
- What simple daily task currently feels most challenging for you?
- How can you honor your basic needs with more compassion?
- Where in your daily routine could you use more divine support?
- What small act of self-care can you commit to today?
|
AFFIRMATIONS FOR TRANSFORMATION
PROGRAMMING NEW BELIEFS
Speaking these truths aloud helps rewire your neural pathways and strengthen new beliefs:
- "I am honoring my body's basic needs with loving care"
- "I am allowing divine support in my daily routines"
- "I am capable of meeting each moment with presence"
- "I am growing stronger with each small act of self-care"
|
Remember, the journey of (re)parenting ourselves is both profound and practical. It is about taking daily steps to rewire our programming while holding deep compassion for our inner child. Through this work, we not only transform our own lives but contribute to healing the collective consciousness of humanity.
Each small step we take—whether it is making our bed, having a difficult conversation, or sitting with uncomfortable emotions—ripples out into the world, creating waves of healing that extend far beyond our individual experience.
